Uintah Basin Acid Deposition

In 1987 the Utah Acid Deposition Technical Advisory Committee (ADTAC) compiled information that had been collected as part of the Western Lakes Survey (WLS) to determine the status of acid deposition in Utah. ADTAC determined that "based on bedrock acid neutralization capacity (ANC), the largest area found to be sensitive to acid deposition was the Uinta Mountains. Also the ANC of the sampled lakes and streams in the Uinta Mountains was consistently low. While the Uinta Mountains did not have the lowest range of ANC in the WLS, the standard deviation was so small and the mean was so low, that as a group, these lakes must be considered to be extremely sensitive.
