Cache Valley PM2.5 Resources:
Cache AirTrack presents the most recent PM2.5 and temperature data from the Cache Valley and is color coded to the AQI scale. Click on the graphic for current air quality trends.
These are some of the resources available for PM2.5
- Looking for real-time air quality data or information about the health effects of PM2.5? Utah Division of Air Quality (UDAQ) provides current PM2.5 air quality levels and information about the impact of PM2.5 on health including information for those who are particularly sensitive to PM2.5. Click here for current Cache County conditions.
- Want to know how you can help reduce air pollution? Information and suggested steps you can take to curb air pollution are available at Utah's Clean Air Website.
- Interested in what scientists and local institutions are finding out about the PM2.5 issues in the Cache Valley?
- A symposium was held at Utah State University (USU) in September of 2005 to discuss the unique PM2.5 situation in the Cache Valley. A summary is available here.
- Click here for a summary of air quality research conducted through 2006 prepared by
Dr. Randy Martin
Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering
USU.
- UDAQ as well as local government agencies work with area schools to advise them about current air quality conditions as well as the detrimental impacts of poor air quality. The schools will keep children inside during air quality episodes based on air quality forecasts.
- PM2.5 information is available to the public though traditional news outlets including local newspapers, television and radio in the form of burn alerts and color coded air quality notifications.
- During severe air quality events UDAQ and local government spokespeople routinely speak directly with local media outlets (radio, television, newspapers) to ensure that the public understands the severity and repercussions of high PM2.5 levels.
